About
So...what's with the name?
It comes from a story written by none other than Samantha. Soon I'll have pictures to go with it, but in the meantime, dig this.
-------
There once was a boy named Josh. Josh wore a blue cape with a big yellow ‘J’ on it. Josh loved his cape.
Josh is starting kindergarten tomorrow. He is very excited! He can’t wait to show the other kids his cape.
Josh said goodbye to his mommy and daddy as he went inside his classroom. When the other children saw him they all began to point and laugh at Josh and his cape.
Josh was so sad that he started to cry.
When his mommy picked him up, he was still very sad. He never wanted to wear his cape again. His mommy noticed that he was sad and asked him, “Josh, what’s wrong?” Josh told his mom what had happened at school.
Josh’s mommy told him “Honey don’t be sad! It’s okay to be different.” This made Josh feel a little better. “Really? Because the other kids laughed at me!” His mom said “Some kids are mean, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be different! You can always be yourself.”
Josh then put his cape back on. He was very excited to return to school the next day. He was happy to know it was okay to be himself.
When he got to school, again the kids laughed at Josh and his cape. But this time, instead of getting sad, Josh smiled to his classmates. He was happy to be different.
When the children saw that Josh didn’t get sad, they were confused. They decided that instead of being mean, they would ask Josh to be their friend.
Josh and his new friends had fun playing together after that day. Josh was glad to wear his cape, and he finally understood that it really was okay to be himself, even if he was different.
